This is an excursion for nature lovers that combines the beauty of the coast with the mountains and the fantastic delta of the Neretva River but also a visit to one of the most important ancient Roman sites on the Adriatic coast.
The excursion starts with a drive westward along the beautiful Adriatic coast.
After a short stop in the small town of Neum we will continue inland towards the delta of the Neretva valley. After a short drive we arrive to the small town of Opuzen. At this place we will leave the buses and embark on small local boats known as " trupice". The "trupice" have been in use for ages for fishing and transportation.
The trupice will take the guests through one of the best preserved wetlands in Europe. This is a part of the Neretva river delta and forms a huge marsh with numerous birds, fishes and other species. It is truly a special feeling to drive through this jewel of the nature in these old local boats.
Lunch will be served along the way in a very attractive location just next to the river.
After the "trupice" experience there is a short drive to the small town of Metkoviæ where we will visit the small but interesting Museum of Birds.
And finally a visit will be made to the small village of Vid where we find the remains and excavations of one of the largest Roman sites on the eastern side of the Adriatic -
Narona. Upon the sightseeing of Narona we will drive back to Dubrovnik.
